Foot care

Comfortable feet are essential to survive the day, but we are so busy that generally they do not get the best care on a regular basis. Patients complain about feet when there is a odour or pain when walking.

The main routine should involve frequent washing, drying thoroughly especially between the toes and with a separate towel.

The shoes should be aired, given new insoles or replaced if old and infected.

Toe nails should be cut often with a nail clipper not scissors and apply moisturising cream to the feet.

Wear open toe footwear if possible to air the feet and reduce fungal infections.

It is important that diabetic patients visit their Doctor when they have any foot concerns.
